2016 was an interesting one for me hobby wise. While for a lot of the year I felt like I wasn’t getting much done when I look back I realize I did a whole lot more than I thought.
It was a year of firsts for me hobbywise. I purchased and assembled my first Forgeworld models, used brass etch for the first time, and actually fielded my first fully painted army in a match. Though my Raven Guard got completely slaughtered (they did look damn cool while doing so).
I branched into a second faction with Raven Guard and between them and my beloved Orks I painted close to 3000pts of models. And have another 2000pts or so assembled and awaiting paint which I hope to get done in the first half of this year. Including my massive Stompa, who I expect is going to use every painting trick and technique I know.
The sad end of my favorite FLGS in late 2015 netted me a game table and some secret weapons TableScape Tiles. I also picked up a FAT Mat to go with it, and that table has seen most of my gaming moved to my own home where I can enjoy it with a good glass of whiskey. I’ve also assembled and painted almost a complete tables worth of GW and MDF ruins. The plan is to have a complete city scape worth of terrain done by the middle of this year to go with the hopefully completely painted 2500pts of Raven Guard I want to field on it.
All in all, it was a pretty good year for gaming, and so far 2017 is looking to be even better.
