About two months ago I reviewed the Dreamforge APC and mentioned that I would be converting it into an Ork Trukk. It has finally made its way through my little chop shop ready to wreak havoc on anyone that gets in its path. In the hands of a Mek it has gained plenty of extra armor plates, a wrecking ball, and painted red for maximum destruction.
These first few images show my initial brainstorming process as I blu tacked various bits and bobs to the chassis before starting any cutting or gluing. I like to try different variations to see what works and what doesn’t. You will notice the big cannon did not make the cut, though it did look cool. I just decided that it was too streamlined for an Ork Trukk, and I really love the wrecking ball.
Once I knew what I wanted to do I started ripping and cutting pieces off the base model and mounting my add-ons. I love how the ram from a Battle Wagon paired with the APC’s windshield give the front end an almost Ork head shape. I also mounted the side panels from the same ram to the front of the back fenders. I like the armored look it creates, and it breaks up the red a bit. Along those lines, and because I wanted it to look like the Orks stole it from someone I ripped the doors off and replaced them with floor boards from an actual Ork Trukk, I also used an exhaust pipe and boarding ramp from the same kit. Some chopped up sheet styrene gave me plenty of spikes to give it the proper pointy look as a finishing touch.
This Trukk is a little shorter than my last Trukk, but otherwise shares the same dimensions. This one looks a bit more military, and the gunner is equipped with a double Rokkit Launcha. Both fitting as I designed this bad boy as the dedicated transport for my upcoming custom Tankbustas. An Elite ride for an Elite unit. But we’ll get to them in a later post once I actually finishing building and painting them.
