This is a collection of recipes that we’ve either found online over the years or have concocted on our own. Personally, I swear by Anne Forester’s Gunk and Les’ Awesome Wash recipes. Sure you can buy some nice products, but if you just keep a nice stock of media on hand then you can make virtually anything you need that is just as good as any of the big brand stuff.
Thinners
Anne Forester’s Gunk (here)
This stuff is great for brush work, but a bit too thick for the airbrush. I dilute with some water if I use it in my airbrush.

Custom Mixes
Sanguine Wash – uses Les’ Awesome Wash
I use this on my Blood Angels to really make those reds bloody. On white it looks like dried blood.
- 35 red
- 15 sepia
- 3 black
Camoshade Wash
Used as an alternative to the Citadel Athonian Camoshade especially for larger models and terrain pieces, this is mixed in 2 oz bottle

- 20 Drops Sepia
